Abstract




The Coach Carter film discusses Ken Carter's story which is taken from a true story. Ken Carter is a former basketball player who received a scholarship from his achievements in playing basketball, then he got an offer to become a coach at his former school, Richmond. Ken Carter saw Richmond basketball games as rude, disrespectful and in dire need of discipline, he also had poor grades in academics and often skipped classes. Ken Carter made a contract containing the rules so that they could continue their education to college level and get a good life. The theory used is the semiotic theory of Charles Sanders Peirce. The paradigm of this research is constructivism which means about character. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research approach and qualitative methods. The results of research on the Coach Carter film uses triangular analyzes the significance or triangle meaning of Charles Sanders Peirce (sign, object, and interpretant). Researchers found fourteen scenes and nine character education values contained in them, namely responsibility, discipline, democracy, creativity, respect for achievement, social care, tolerance, hard work, love of peace, curiosity, independent and communicative.
