Abstract




Myth is something that claims the truth but is actually misleading, where in this study the researcher wants to expose in an oddity that is in the documentary film Sexy Killers in the form of scenes about the myths of the state of Coal in Indonesia. Sexy Killers film is a film that tells about coal, in this film dismantle that coal is not the only energy that can be used to conduct electricity and in this film also reveals that coal is not an environmentally friendly source but instead has a lot of environmental pollutants. This research paradigm is critical with a qualitative approach. This research also uses Roland Barthes's semiotics method to dismantle the coal myth in the scenes in the documentary film Sexy Killers. The results showed that there were scenes related to coal myths supported by facts about the occurrence of environmental damage and several portraits of public complaints in the film Sexy Killers, Scene which dismantles that coal is not an environmentally friendly source of energy, Scene which dismantles the interests between the government and the authorities, Scene which dismantles that coal is not the only source of energy that can generate electricity, Scene which dismantles that there is other energy that can used more environmentally friendly.
