IMPRESSION MANAGEMENT POLITISI DEWAN PIMPINAN CABANG PDI PERJUANGAN DALAM MEMENANGKAN PEMILU LEGISLATIF 2019 DI KOTA TANGERANG

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impression management of politicians on the PDI Perjuangan Branch Leadership Council in winning the 2019 legislative elections in the city of Tangerang. With the research problem proposed, how is the impression management of politicians on the PDI Perjuangan Branch Management Council in winning the 2019 legislative elections in the city of Tangerang? The paradigm used is the constructivism paradigm using a qualitative approach. The theory used in this research is the theory of Erving Goffman impression management with Edward Jones's self-presentation concept, political communication theory, public relations theory, political public relations theory, and political party theory. The results showed that in the process of impression management of politicians on the PDI Perjuangan Branch Leadership Council in the city of Tangerang, which was carried out by politicians together with the Deputy Chairperson for Election Winning in coordination with the Deputy Chairperson for Political Communication, and the Deputy Chair for the National Election Witness Body Division, carried out five typologies of Edward's self-presentation. Jones includes ingratiation strategy, self- promotion strategy, exemplification strategy, supplication strategy, intimidation strategy. The conclusion of the study is that the PDI Perjuangan Branch Leadership Council in the city of Tangerang has good impression management in the 2019 legislative election so that it can win 10 seats in the legislative election. The theoretical suggestion of this research is that it is hoped that this research can provide benefits for the development of Communication Science, especially in the field of Political Public Relations and impression management. The practical suggestion of this research is that the researcher hopes that the PDI Perjuangan Branch Leadership Council in Tangerang city can expand its socialization in the city of Tangerang. And can maximize social media in carrying out promotional activities and in publishing promotional socialization activities carried out.
