Abstract

Indonesian territory is the largest archipelago in the world. This region which is also located between the continents of Asia-Australia and the Indian Ocean-Pacific Ocean has 17,508 islands. Despite the richness and beauty of the extraordinary islands, the Indonesian people need to realize that this archipelago has 129 active volcanoes and is located at the confluence of three active tectonic plates in the world, namely the Indo-Australian, Eurasian and Pacific plates. So, Indonesia is declared a natural disaster prone area. Illustration book is a book that displays the visualization of an article which emphasizes the relationship between the subject and the writing. The illustrations in a book aim to decorate a story. With an illustration, the writing is easier for the reader to digest. Lack of knowledge about how to evacuate yourself when a disaster occurs with this informative and effective media is one of the problems for the creators, making it a final project entitled "Preparedness for Natural Disasters". Therefore, the design of this illustration book aims to provide information, learning, ways of self-evacuation, and prevention of natural disasters to children aged 7-12 years so that they can be prepared for natural disasters. The material in this illustration book is also the result of interviews with the Regional Disaster Management Agency. Therefore this illustration book can help overcome existing problems. In addition to learning for readers, they will not be bored to read because there are attractive illustrations and colors.
