Abstract

The research aims to explain in detail and analyze the parts of the impression management of the front stage and back stage in Indra “The Rain”, the announcer of the Malam-Malam program I-Radio 89.6 FM Jakarta. Research analysis using the Dramaturgy Theory of Erving Goffman. This research is a qualitative research with a constructivist paradigm and uses phenomenological methods. Data obtained from interviews and observations to Indra “The Rain” supported by literature studies. The results of the front stage research were divided into three, namely the setting, appearance and manner, showing that Indra “The Rain” manages the impression on appearance and manner when acting on the Malam-Malam program. While on the back stage, which is analyzed into several aspects such as makeup, clothing, attitudes and behavior, body language, facial expressions, message content and how to speak or style of language, shows that Indra “The Rain” really returned to his true self, even he showed the other side that cannot be found while on the front stage. Based on the results of this analysis, this study concluded that the management of Indra's impressions was seen from the front stage that was run when delivering the Malam-Malam program. This impression management is more or less influenced by the policies set by the radio station that holds it. All of that goes back to the concept and theme of the program from the radio station.
