Abstract




This study aims to determine the representation of paraphilia in the film Fifty Shades of Grey with qualitative research methods and analyzed using semiotic analysis proposed by Roland Barthes. The theory used in this research is the theory of mass media with the concept of interpreting every symbol, visual, and audio contained in the film Fifty Shades of Grey. Data obtained from several reference books, journals, internet, and taking some pictures in the film Fifty Shades of Grey. Data collection is obtained through the type of audio-visual material on the film under study. Data obtained through library research and documentation from various media, both print and online. The paradigm used in this research is the constructivist paradigm with the aim of knowing the reality that exists in the community. The results showed a number of scenes that represented paraphilia, both verbally and nonverbally caused by Gray's past who experienced sexual harassment.
