Abstract
This study aims to analyze the semiotics of the Tempo online magazine cover issue February 25 - March 03 2019, about the Bubat War in the Land of Java that found Jokowi with Prabowo in the 2019 Presidential Election. The subjects in this study were Tempo online magazine, while the object of his research was the Tempo online magazine cover edition. 25 February - 3 March 2019. The research method is descriptive qualitative by analyzing Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotics with the triangle of meaning theory, namely Interpretant, Representament, and Object. But Pierce divides signs based on icons, indexes, and symbols and researchers use icons, indexes and symbols to find out what the meanings of the Tempo online magazine cover February 25 - March 3 2019 edition. Data collection is obtained through observation , download, record documents related to reporting about the 2019 presidential election. The results of the research show that in the Tempo online magazine cover there is an element of Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotics, namely that Jokowi and Prabowo were reunited in the 2019 presidential election, where the presidential election this time is like a war Bubat in the past between the Majapahit Kingdom and the Padjajaran Kingdom, between Raja Hayam Wuruk and Raja Lingga Buana. Jokowi is compared to King Hayam Wuruk because Jokowi controls the voice in the regions of Java such as Central Java and East Java while Prabowo is compared to Raja Lingga Buana who controls the pasundan areas such as West Java. In the cover of Tempo Online Magazine edition 25 February - 03 March 2019 with the title Bubat War in the Land of Java, it also displays modern visualizations like in a game that is currently in controversy in Indonesia, namely PUBG (Player Unkown’s Battle Grounds).
