Representasi Bakti Kartini Pada Orang Tua Dalam Film Kartini (Analisis Semiotika atas Film Kartini)

Abstract

This study aims to describe the representation of Kartini’s devotion to her in " Kartini ". The problem of this research is how the representation of devotion to parents  in the film of " Kartini ". This is a qualitative research with semiotics as method of analyses.  The movie’s duration is 122 minutes, its analyze using Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic. Peirce categorizes the meaning triangle theory which consists of three main elements namely, sign, object, and interpretant. The studi found that this film contains seven scenes represented the devotion of Kartini to her parents. Finally, it concluded that this movie strongly represent the devotion of Kartini to her parents base on Javanese culture. Even though Kartini has spoken up her mind to her parents, she was still a submissive Javanese.
