Abstract

This study aims to analyze how Sumba's culture is represented in the Marlina The Murderer In Four Acts Film. The question raised from this research is how is Sumba's culture represented in Marlina The Murderer In Four Acts film? The paradigm used is Constructivist. The method used is qualitative with Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic analysis. The object in this study was Marlina The Murderer In Four Acts Film. Data collection obtained from this study was observed by watching the Marlina The Murderer In Four Acts film, the primary data used was downloading a film from Marlina The Murderer In Four Acts and a reference from one of the original Sumba communities. For secondary data, this study uses literature studies from books, online journals and research reports that are similar to research. The results of the study are through Charles Sanders Peirce's theory, which has a comprehensive, structural description of all marking systems, this film reflects that Sumba's culture in the Marlina The Murderer In Four Acts film can be seen in terms of traditional death, art and tradition. The customary death of Sumba's culture is represented through the remains of Marlina's husband. Art from Sumba culture is represented through Tombstone, Woven Fabrics and Mamuli. The head-cutting tradition is represented when the marina decapitates the enemy. The conclusion of this study is that the Marlina The Murderer In Four Acts film inserts the message that Sumba is an area that is still attached to its culture including art, custom of death and tradition of cutting off the head of the enemy.
