Abstract

This documentary work discusses the richness of Indonesian culture and the heritage that has been passed down by ancestors. One of the heritage is jemparingan. Jemparingan was formerly a habit in a country when the war againts the enemy, they use the jemparingan or archery. Jemparingan or arrows were tools against the enemy. but over time, the war has subsided and the use of arrows or jemparing is considered something outdated. Then jemparingan given philosophy by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono I, namely Pamenthanging Gandewa Pamanthenging Cipta. which means that when we draw the gandewa or bow, our feelings or the eyes of our heart are aimed at the target, but aiming the target is not with the eye but with feelings. Jemparingan in Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat still preserved by the abdi dalem. Jemparingan currently performed as a sport and train the souls of the abdi dalem. The formation of the soul is; "nyawiji" is concentration, "greget" is the spirit, "sengguh" is identity, "ora mingkuh" is responsible. this is a figure of a knight.
