Abstract
This research presents the definition of the audience about how the definition of the audience against the communication style of Jokowi in the video #JOKOWIMENJAWAB Episode 2 on YouTube. This research aims to know the definition produced by the audiences in interpret communication style Jokowi in Jokowi’s video #JOKOWIMENJAWAB Episode 2 on YouTube. This is a qualitative research method by using Reception Analysis of Stuart Hall. The subject and object of research is the selected audience through a system of voting by poll features in social media Instagram. The collection of data obtained through in-depth interviews with ten interviewees that follow the votting on Instagram as informants. Additional data were also obtained through books, journals, guidelines and research. The results showed that the elements that exist in the theory of Stuart Hall produces a different definition in the communication styles on how to interpret Jokowi in the video #JOKOWIMENJAWAB Episode 2 on YouTube, in respect of the suitability of the the selection of words used, and how the delivery of the message is done Jokowi in the video. As for the definition of the resulting dominant meaning, i.e., the definition of negotiation, and the meaning of the opposition. The meaning difference occurs because of the difference of the background, the tribe, as well as the informant communication style difference aspects influenced the resulting meaning each informant. the conclusions of this study is from the informant and ten people with six inquiries get the dominant definition of forty-six, seven such negotiation, and seven such opposition, meaning that the definition in this research is dominated with the dominant meaning, where tribes, family background, environment, as well as influential informant communication style in this research so that visible differences in giving the meaning of any informants.
