ANALISIS SEMIOTIKA SOSIAL PADA BERITA KASUS PENODAAN AGAMA PASCA VONIS BASUKI TJAHJA PURNAMA DI KOMPAS.COM

Abstract

The case of desecration of religion done by Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) is become the concern of the public and mass media. Since Ahok was convicted by the court, Kompas.com gives the information contains various statements which doubting Ahok's legal process, this will affect the readers’ perception which will ultimately determine the people’s point of view against this case. This research aims to determine the analysis of social semiotics in Kompas.com of the case of desecration of religion. The method of this research is qualitative by using social semiotics M.A.K Halliday to interpret the news text by using three elements, they are the field of discourse, the tenor of discourse, and the mode of discourse. The object of this research is the news of the case of desecration of religion after the Ahok verdict on May 10, 2017. Data collection was obtained through observations obtained from Kompas.com in the form of news text about the case of desecration of religion after the Ahok verdict on May 10, 2017. Data obtained through literature study, other supporting data on the internet related to research problems. The result of the research, the field of discourse is about the injustice in the verdict of the desecration of religious case against Ahok, where the completion of the Ahok legal case is more oriented to the pressure of the masses and sees this case as a political matter. The tenor of discourse uses the source who has background and attention to legal, social and political issues. The mode of discourse in the news of words tend to contain cynicism, the use of the term, "political merchandise" and the death of justice in the news shows the image of a negative connotation of the completion of Ahok's legal case. The conclusion of research, the field of discourse is the completion of Ahok's legal case is an unjust decision. The tenor of discourse, is a source according to their competence. The medium of discourse in the news contains many masters, one of them paradoxical masters, cynicism, and satire. Theoretical suggestion, the further researchers can more deeply study the meaning of using social semiotics analysis. Practical advice, the media can preach better by avoiding prejudice to the content of the news.
