REPRESENTASI TANGGUNG JAWAB KETUA TIM PENDAKI DALAM FILM “EVEREST”

Abstract

This study aims to describe character of responsibility in movie, entitled “Everest”. This is a descriptive qualitative research method with formal object in the dialogue and the characters in the movie. This study begins from September until December 2016. The data is description about the main character, named Rob Hall, as team leader mountaineer of Everest. Data were obtained through observation to material object of this study, which a form dialogue and behavior of Rob Hall with his friends who joined in the team, and formal object of this study is a moral responsibility. And then the data was analyzed using semiotics Roland Barthes, called signification two way. Signification is relation between signifier, signified, denotation, and conotation. The signifier in this study are several scenes from ‘Everest’, and signified by analyze it. The results showed that the representation for responsibility of mountaineer team leader to reach the top of Everest is obtained from the attitudes of leadership and the attention that Rob Hall gave as the leader in the film ‘Everest’.
