Abstract
This study aims to find out how interpersonal communication between the coverage coordinator and the crews on “TVRI Sport” program at TVRI Center. The research question posed is “How is the interpersonal communication between coverage coordinator and the crews on “TVRI Sport” program at TVRI Center?”. The theory used in this research is the theory of interpersonal communication effectiveness by Joseph A. DeVito. The research method used in this study is qualitative descriptive. The subjects of the study are the coverage coordinator and the crews consisting of reporters and cameramen on the “TVRI Sport” program. While the objects are interpersonal communication itself. Data collection techniques used by the researcher are deep interview technique, nonparticipant observation, documentation, and literature study. The study results showed that the openness of the interpersonal communication between the coverage coordinator and the crews has run effectively, both the coverage coordinator and the crews were open each other. Second, empathy given by the coverage coordinator was still not effective because only some of the crews who already felt the concern given by the coverage coordinator. Third, supportive attitudes given by the coverage coordinator had been effective since the coverage coordinator gave suggestions, inputs and rewards to the crews who have worked well. Fourth, positive attitudes shown by the crews had been effective since the coverage coordinator appreciated and gave smiles to the crews as she believed they can do the job well. Fifth, the equality shown by the coverage coordinator had been effective since the coverage coordinator assigned the same tasks to all crews, used the same language, and shared her experience with all crews.
