Abstract

The research problem of this study was:  how employee relations activities on ACE Hardware AEON Mall BSD City could improve employee’s job motivation. The purpose of this research is to explain employee relations activities that was conducted by ACE Hardware AEON Mall BSD City as an effort to increase employe’s job motivation and to know how ACE Hardware Mall BSD City established communication with its employees. The methodology on this research was descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection was done by observation and in-depth interview. The observation was a passive participation observation which means the researcher was the outer part of the object of observation and did not participate as the subject of  the research, while in-depth interviews were conducted directly and intensively with reliable informant. To  analysing of validity of the data, this study used triangulation of source, that analysed it based on result of observation and interview white key informant and informant. Data from observations and interviews were combined,   so those could be complement each other. The result of this study showed that employee relations activities which were done by ACE  Hardware AEON Mall BSD City had triggered the job motivation of employees. The  encouragements arised through the activities that were held by the company, especially from outing activities. The increasing of job motivation was happen due to the management’s appreciation to employees, because they achieved sales targets and made  sales growth.
